Writing with AI

There are multiple ways to start writing with AI. The easiest way is by clicking on the "Write an Article" button from the left tab bar.
You can also go to Keywords page and click "Magic Write a Blog" next to a keyword to start writing.
Other ways including clicking on a specific content from the Content page or clicking "Start Writing" next to a topic you found in the Find Content Ideas list.
If you are starting with just a keyword, the content editor will present you a few ideas / topics to pick from. Click on one that you want to write and get started.
Once you select a topic, you can also change the topic from the Title field by typing your own topic or title for the article.
If you are typing in your own title please try to include the keyword within the title.
Below the main keyword, you'll notice a bunch of semantic keywords that will be greyed out. These are other related keywords that Ranklytics generates for you based on NLP (natural language processing) and based on most commonly used by competitors who rank for your keyword.
Before proceeding to write, take a look at the semantic keywords and ensure they are appropriate to what you are targeting. If you'd like to remove any semantic keyword, feel free to remove them by hovering over them and clicking the "x" icon.
You can also add additional semantic keywords that you want AI to use for writing. You can do that by clicking on "Add Keyword" at the end of the semantic keyword list, which will bring up a keyword field to let you type.
Once you are satisfied with the semantic keyword, you can proceed forward.
There are 2 modes for writing articles.
Generate using AI - This is the easier way of the two and is a article generation wizard. It generates an outline for you and then lets you generate the full draft. In the outline, you have the option to make edits to any sub-headings. Once you click "Next >" it will take the outline and generate the full draft.
Freestyle Writing - This is where you can tag team with AI and write the article. It allows for more flexibility. You can create your own outline and then go under each sub-heading and click "AI Write" for AI to write that section. Each time you click the button, AI reviews the content written prior to it and extends it further. You can continue to add your own writing along with AI to create a master piece.
Although optional, you can pick a style of writing you want for your article. You have the option to pick up to 2 styles of writing. The options include - Formal, Conversational, Informative, Persuasive, Casual, Actionable, Technical, Narrative, Empathetic, Data-driven and Inspirational.
If you'd like to specify your own custom style of writing, please specify that inside Brand Voice.
You have the option to add your own brand voice and create articles in that. This is currently available as feature in Tier 3 plans only. To add your brand voice, go to Settings > Project Settings and you'll find the option to "Define your Brand Voice"
To the right, below the "Featured Image" section you'll see the option for Stats and Internal Links. Ranklytics auto-generates stats for your topic and also finds other relevant internal pages for you to link to.
Please review the stats & internal links and ensure they are relevant to your article. If you don't want to use a particular stat or internal link click "x" to remove them. You can also manually add them by click the "+" icon under the appropriate tab.
To generate content in this mode, just click on "Create Outline" to get started.
Once the outline is generated, you have the option to edit the outline by clicking on anywhere in the outline. It will instantly make that line or section editable so you can modify it.
Once you are done making changes to the outline and are happy with your outline go ahead and click "Next >" and proceed to the next step. It will generate the full draft for you. It can take up 2-3 mins for the draft to be fully ready.
Once the draft is fully generated, it gets auto-saved, however you will see an option to "SAVE" as well if you want to go ahead and save. To edit the your draft click on "Edit" and this takes you to the freestyle mode to let you edit the content in a editor.
AI automatically uses the Semantic Keywords, the Stats and the Internal links you have on the page. AI tries best to check-off all the on-page items to get you a high ranking SEO score but its not perfect and the score can vary. Please find more details on optimizing for SEO score below.
The freestyle mode offers more flexibility in writing your article. It allows you to create your own outline and helps you expand that outline into a draft.
The best way is to go ahead and create an outline with an Intro, Sub-headings and a Conclusion. And then place your cursor after each sub-heading and click "AI Write" to let AI expand each sub-heading.
Each time you click "AI Write", AI will go over what's been written and then extend / add on top of that.
In this mode you are in more control of your content and make edits as you go. Once done, click Save to save the content.
When you generate an article using the Generate using AI, the AI takes care of ensuring all the boxes are checked and get you a high SEO Score. However there are times where it may fall short on one or few elements.
Although we recommend not to get too hung up on the score, if your score is 65+, you are in good shape. However if you are looking to still optimize, the best way to do so is to do it manually.
Look at the area below the SEO Score and identify sections that need work.
If you click on the arrow icon next to each section it will elaborate and tell you the criteria its looking for . You can use that criteria to make manual edits to your content in the freestyle mode. Keyword Density is less important than some of the other elements so we recommend don't go about stuffing keywords just to get that score high.
